Introducing Joyang Textile Cafe: A Hidden Gem of Ganghwa Island!
Last week, I went on a day trip to Ganghwa Island with a friend. I'd like to introduce you to the most impressive place we visited - Joyang Textile Cafe.
A Space Where History Breathes
Joyang Textile Cafe is a renovated former textile factory established in 1933. Built with Korean capital during the Japanese colonial period, this factory once produced the highest quality fabrics. After being abandoned for years, it was reborn as a cafe in 2018.
Spacious and Unique Interior
As soon as we entered the cafe, we were amazed by its scale. The 2,100-pyeong (about 6,942 m²) space with traces of the old factory everywhere was truly impressive.
What I found particularly interesting was how the old factory tools were repurposed as decorations. We could also see antiques like British-made doors and mirrors from Czech trains. It was unique to see old workbenches transformed into coffee tables.
Diverse Spaces
Besides the main building, there are annexes and outdoor spaces, allowing you to choose your preferred atmosphere. We enjoyed our coffee in the quiet space on the second floor, which offered a great view of the entire cafe.
Oh, and there's also a special space converted from a bus. I think kids would love it!
